Gerard Byrne a self-taught artist has been painting steadily for three decades full time. His works have been shown domestically and internationally in numerous solo and group exhibitions. Byrne has established himself as one of Ireland’s leading contemporary artists and foremost modern impressionist.

The title draws from his connection to the area, which explores and revisits the shoreline in and around Dalkey, Sandycove, Glasthule, and Dun Laoghaire.

His method of practice has evolved over the years. Byrne’s diverse use of pigments; serene blues, fresh greens, lilacs often over large-scale canvases, combined with his use of light have allowed his work to have a fluidity and expressiveness that responds to the interchanging landscape.

Byrne’s latest works also provide a masterclass in the medium of charcoal, mixed with the use of oil paints on canvas, create bold and striking compositions.
